Here are some of my tips for the limp hair war.

Finer textured hair can be the bane of our lives when we want to style it. We all want that big bouncy look, with lots of added volume. Having naturally finer, limp hair, I am always looking for products, tools and techniques that will help me achieve this look.

  1. Rough it up

Rough drying is a must for somebody with fine hair. Too much brush drying will flatten the hair too much. Dry at least 90% of your hair roughly before getting a round brush to smooth it down.

  • Making the cut

The right haircut makes a massive difference to finer texture hair.

If your hair is longer length, a long layer is essential to add volume and movement.  Shorter styles work really well on fine hair as it’s not weighed down by length. Pixie cuts and blunt bobs are great styles to combat the limp hair war. Bangs are a major hairstyle trend this year and they can work great on fine hair. A blunt or pixie fringe adds a really cool edge and thickness to a hairstyle.

  • The product queen

Using the right products can make a big difference in giving your hair that volume and life you are lusting.

A lightweight root lift product is a must have! I love Tigi Superstar Queen for a Day. This root lift thickening spray adds masses of volume and is an amazing product.

If you prefer a cream texture to thicken up your hair Pureology Blowdry Amplifier adds masses of volume to your mane. Add it to towel dried hair, blow dry your hair and wow does this feel like you’ve inherited another thicker head of hair.

Kenra Texture Spray  adds great volume, texture, doubles up as a dry shampoo and gives you that lovely tousled, beachy look.

We all love a good sea salt spray! It’s a must have to add sass and a beachy vibe to that flat head of hair. My favourite is Label M Sea Salt Spray

Dry shampoo is every girl’s best friend and the best to give your hair an extra boost when needed.  Joico Instant Fresh is one of my favourite dry shampoos but there is a lot on the market on low key budgets. Keep one in your handbag for any emergencies.

Use a light hair conditioner day to day. If you want a style to last for the day, ditch the conditioner for that day. Don’t be heavy handed with the products you use as too much will weigh down your hair.

  • The style queen

Styling your fine hair can be quite hard and keeping it in place can be even harder.

Using good quality hot tools is essential. Use a wand or ghd to add beachy curls. Add texture spray or mist on a sea salt spray after waving your hair for extra texture, volume and an undone look.

If you want to go for more a groomed curl (for a wedding or big event), curl your hair with a hot tool and pin the curls in place for while. When you take them out, put a soft brush or fingers through them, add hairspray or your favourite finishing product and VOILA you have a gorgeous soft curl with volume.

  • Healthy hair starts inside

Having a healthy diet and adding vitamins to your daily routine can do wonders for your hair. Adding B – Complexes, Biotin, Fish Oils, Vitamin D or C and Zinc are great options. A good multivitamin with any of these is a great bonus. Getting professional advice on this topic is advised to make sure you are taking the right and suitable supplements for you.

I hope these tips help you to ‘Be a Queen Everyday’ and add masses of volume to your gorgeous hair.
